Reiki 霊気 is universal life force energy. What is similarly called things like chi, prana, and so forth. What practitioners call Reiki is referring to a method of using life force energy for healing.
The origins of reiki healing can be traced back to ancient Tibet but what is commonly known today is from the enlightenment of Dr. Mikao Usui from Japan. He gained this knowledge during a new moon, on his 21st day of meditation on a mountain and interpreted it into the Usui System of Natural Healing in the 1800’s.
This healing method works by the practitioner being a channel of life force energy through their hands to the recipient with the intent to support energy flow and healing. Reiki is not a religion, but an oral tradition passed down for time immemorial. It is simply a universal energy that is all around us. It is a healing method that does not contradict with others.

Reiki is something Dr. Usui wanted to be shared widely. His apprentice Dr. Chujiro Hayashi taught two Japanese women, one of which, Mrs. Hawayo Takata who was born and raised in Hawaii, shared the teachings in North America to preserved the tradition.
I received my Reiki Level 1 certification in the Usui method in 2021 by Reiki Master Denise Cunningham. This healing wisdom was passed down through 13 masters in my lineage tree.
Reiki is an offering that is given based on an exchange of energies, whether that be creatively or through money. Because I am still currently training I offer reiki sessions by donation or energy exchange.
My reiki sessions are offered in the comfort of your own home, whether laying down or seated or outdoors if the weather allows. I am currently not offering distance reiki. In the future, I hope to create my own healing space for reiki an other offerings.
My reiki is trauma-informed and for that reason, I do not touch your body unless you request that.
